Departure from Amsterdam at the end of the day, with the first two regional trains (operated by\u00a0<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-2-color\">Dutch Railways<\/mark>fluid and comfortable.<br>But when it arrived at\u00a0<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-2-color\">Bielefeld Central Station\u00a0<\/mark>around 11:30 PM, everything gets complicated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Progressive delay of the night train to Berlin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No services open after midnight (restaurants, restrooms, information).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No reserved seat, due to lack of an \u201covernight bunk\u201d option.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Result: 3 hours waiting in an empty station, then 6 hours on the train\u00a0<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-2-color\">unassigned seat<\/mark>, to take micro-naps in the hallway.<br>A significant memory, but also formative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNext time I have an overnight train, I'm booking a sleeper.
